IP Corporation, along with its operating businesses, is a specialty chemical company with its headquarters in St. Paul, Minnesota. The company focuses on the production and sale of unsaturated polyester and vinyl ester resins, gelcoats, putties and colorants for the composites and cast polymer industries.

After the joint team completed the work IP Corporation was able to go live on M3 13.4 with H5 in December of 2018. The next challenge they look to solve is replacing Adage with M3 in another division.

Overview

This Canadian pet food manufacturing company is one of the world’s best in manufacturing and producing biologically appropriate pet food. Infor M3 as their ERP system touches their entire business from purchasing, inventory, warehouse management, manufacturing, sales, and distribution.

Business Challenges and Application Landscape 

The challenge that the company faced was that it was wanting to be able to see near real-time production floor activity from an inventory aspect. Meaning, when an item gets physically consumed, adjusted or moved on the production floor, it is reflected in M3 near real-time. Since inventory moves quickly in manufacturing, being able to have near real-time accurate inventory records helps throughout the business especially with supply chain, manufacturing order processing and financial reporting. This client’s application landscape consisted of:

  • Infor M3 13.4
  • Homegrown Manufacturing Execution System
  • SPS commerce (Electronic Data Exchange)

Result

The solution that this company required was to integrate Infor M3 and key PLC Systems that consumed, adjusted or moved inventory on the production floor.  The PLC Systems we choose to integrate resided in the dry goods and the fats & oils areas of the plant. The main reason these areas were selected was that inventory would usually end up in silos or tanks where Infor M3 loses traceability until the manufacturing processes were complete in M3.  

By being able to integrate those areas of the plant, inventory traceability wasn’t reliant on the manufacturing process to be complete in M3 and inventory in M3 was near real-time.  This company’s MO processes that resided in M3 became more efficient as well and having near to real-time inventory accuracy lead to better supply chain planning and better financial reporting.

Jelly Belly Candy Company was founded in 1898, and began making Jelly Belly jelly beans in 1976. Today, Jelly Belly products are sold all over the world and the company remains family owned and operated by the fourth, fifth and sixth generations of the candy-making family.

Business Challenges

With 1200 SKUS across three manufacturing sites Jelly Belly was looking to improve cost and profitability visibility across the business with Infor M3.  Needing advanced modeling tools to maximize utilization of production resources Doppio was selected to migrate the existing business processes. 

Result

Now that Jelly Belly is up and running on Infor M3 they’ve been able to lower inventory up to 25% a month due to improved forecasting. They are able to perform quick proforma costing for creating new products and cost optimization of existing products. Additionally. using Infor M3 they now have the visibility into specific customer P&L information.

Iconex keeps commerce moving by helping to connect businesses with people and goods.
